Gold Ranch

July 24, 2013 No comments »

We took a recent trip to the Gold Ranch just outside of Rexburg, Idaho. Pulling into the property, we arrived at a bridge with a water diversion known as the Texas Slough to those who have been fortunate enough to fish these waters. This turned out to be the “Gold-en” fishing hole of the day as we pulled out hogs, merely 10 yards away from where we parked the car.

Rainbow trout caught on Coyote Creek Ranch

Waking up at 4 A.M. is only enjoyable if the woods or the river is involved. We watched the sunrise as we traveled over the Teton Pass on our way to fish Montana Live Water. We had big plans to enjoy the next two days fishing the waters of Montana for the first time. It proved to be an angler’s heaven. With turn-offs and public access to waters around every corner, we were amazed at how much passion the entire state of Montana has for fishing. » Read more: Montana Fly Fishing Trip

Bonefishing in the Bahamas

March 7, 2013 No comments »

This time last year, the Live Water Team was gearing up for bonefishing in the Bahamas…one can always dream we are back on the islands, right?

The MV Bonefish is an 82-foot luxury catamaran that plies the waters of the Berry Islands, Chub Cay, Moore’s Island, Red Shank, Whale Cay, Little Abaco and a host of other lightly visited cays to the north and west. If you long to fish in places where established fishing lodges are the exception rather than the rule, the comfort and exclusivity of the MV Bonefish might be the ticket. During our visit, we had the pleasure to spend time with our friends at Frontiers Travel. » Read more: Bonefishing in the Bahamas

Cruisin’ the Snake

Beckett and Sydney

This October day smelled of fresh pumpkins and drying leaves as young anglers Sydney Smith and Beckett Maher took to the Snake River for adventure.  The gleaming sun warmed the water, awakening the trout.  Long-time Jackson guide Scott Smith navigated the drift boat.  There were animal sightings and the intermittent cry…”Trout on!  Raise the tip.”  » Read more: Cruisin’ the Snake
